Ich war einkaufen bei Woolworth. Als die Frau an der Kasse meine 2 Artikel an den Preis-Scanner hielt, bemerkte ich, dass sie 2 Pflaster an ganz genau denselben Stellen derselben Finger ihrer linken Hand trug wie ich selber . – Ich hielt ihr auch diese Hand unter den Scanner und sie lachte.
Darauf sagte ich, das sei doch ein einmaliges Zeichen .. und eigentlich doch schon eine Bestimmung. Wir sollten uns unbedingt auf ein Rendezvous verabreden. Sie war erstmal ziemlich skeptisch; doch als ich hinzufügte, dass in dieser 4-Millionen-Stadt um uns herum doch in diesem Moment doch ganz sicher niemand dieselben Pflaster an denselben Stellen trage, liess sie sich darauf ein.
Wir trafen uns am nächsten Abend bei einem Italiener um die Ecke. Es war Muschelsaison und der Duft von andern Tischen bewegte uns, auch 2 Teller davon zu bestellen.
Doch gleich als ich die erste davon auf meinem Teller zu öffnen versuchte, rutschte ich mit dem Muschelmesser ab und stach mir mit der Spitze davon in einen bisher noch unverletzten Finger.
Es blutete gleich heftig. Eine Kellnerin hatte das Mißgeschick bemerkt und kam sofort mit einem frischen Pflaster.
Die Folge davon war natürlich, dass ich jetzt plötzlich 3 Pflaster an der linken Hand hatte, die Frau mir gegenüber nur 2. Wir legten sie einander gegenüber flach auf den Tisch. Ein irgendwie trauriges Bild. Die ganze schöne Bestimmung war flöten gegangen.
Ich fragte die Frau, ob sie sich vielleicht mit ihrem Muschelmesser einen 3. Finger ganz leicht einritzen würde und wir lassen uns gleich auch für sie noch ein 3. Pflaster kommen.
Aber sie stand dann einfach auf und verließ das Lokal.

The magic of the signs
I was making purchases from Woolworth. When the woman at the cash held my 2 articles near the prize scanner, I noted that she carried 2 plasters at the certainly same places of the same fingers of her left hand like me myself. – I also held to her this hand under the scanner and she laughed.

She was quite sceptical first; however, when I added that in this 4-million town round us, nevertheless, at this moment, nevertheless, definitely nobody carries the same plasters at the same places, she got involved in it.
The next evening we met at an Italian Restaurant around the corner. It was mussel season and the smell of other tables moved us to order also 2 plates of it.
However, as soon as I tried to open the first one of it on my plate, I slipped off with the mussel knife and pricked myself with the point of it in a finger uninjured still up to now.
It bled equally violently. A waitress had noted the bad luck and came immediately with a fresh plaster.
The result of it was naturallly that I had now suddenly 3 plasters on the left hand, the woman to me compared with only 2. We laid them to each other towards level on the table. An anyhow doleful picture. The whole beauty of destiny had gone down the drain.
I asked the woman whether she scratched her own 3rd finger quite lightly with her mussel knife and we ask immediately for the 3rd plaster for her too.
But then she simply got up and left the resraurant.
